Senior Designer, Colour & Graphic Capsules

You could be part of this journey, taking ownership of the way we use colour at MAAP, the building of our colour palettes, the use of colour in our ranging to add to our storytelling, the colour continuity across all materials and trims, and bringing a sophisticated and trend driven design eye to the colours we use for each collection.

Reporting to our Product Design and Development Manager, you will also nurture an important relationship to our co-CEOs and Chief Creative Officer who provide creative direction, the design team who develop the styles you will colour up, and the Product Manager who owns the assortment. Along with your team, consisting of a Product Developer and Design Administrative Assistant, you will maintain the highest quality standards.


ABOUT YOU:

  • You have experience in building seasonal colour palettes, colouring in seasonal ranges and merchandising capsules, ideally in the apparel or textile industry.
  • You have demonstrated ownership of the execution of colour and graphics through the pre-production process.
  • An understanding of the sublimation process and of transfer prints highly regarded.
  • You can manage multiple stakeholders, from suppliers to internal teams, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • You have successfully led a small team or at least one direct report previously.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Colour work:

  • Undertaking seasonal colour and trend research, then building seasonal colour palettes in line with the brand's DNA.
  • Applying seasonal colour palettes by drop, by colouring up the range that is handed over in black and white to creating cohesive stories through the use of colour. Considering the product flow and how colours work across drops and product categories.
  • Presenting the colour palette and coloured up designs at Concept Review and engaging in assortment discussions.
  • Creating and managing range boards for each drop throughout the process
  • Responsible for a large volume of lab dips, colour submissions and strike offs across the business, all colour approvals, and cohesiveness in execution.
  • Resolving any colour issues with mills/suppliers.
  • Ownership of colour palette management in PLM software - the colour set up, Pantone reference system, colour naming, ensuring consistency of data.
  • Management of a Design Admin assistant to assist request all colour submissions, track them and communicate approvals with mills and general administration of the colour approval process.
  • Ownership over the colour BOM’s in tech packs and managing the colour variants of each component in our PLM system.

Graphic Capsules:

Oversee the ranging and execution of all graphic injection capsules that leverage creative provided by our graphic design team. Ensuring capsules sit cohesively in the context of the main range you are colouring up, and that product development work is executed to meet launch dates.

Oversee a Product developer to assist with:

  • Briefing in the graphic design team on the number of graphic capsules we need each season and the proposed assortment for each capsule using carryover styles.
  • Receiving the creative back from the graphic design team, applying to products, re-size etc, as required.
  • Managing rangeboards for these capsules.
  • Use Colour CAD’s and artwork specs to create tech packs for these new colourways of each style and work alongside a garment tech to issue to suppliers.
  • Requesting and tracking all flat plans, strike offs and colour submissions.
  • Approving all lab dips, strike offs and colour submissions, problem solving any colour continuity issues.
  • Work alongside a Garment Technician who will approve all PPS samples for these new colourways.

Participating in all Critical Path (CP) milestones:

  • Participating in Roadmap Review, Concept Review, Adopt or Drop and Assortment Meetings.
  • Preparing Range Boards, and presenting ranges with Apparel & Accessory designers.
  • Actioning all responsibilities to the CP dates and workflow.
  • Providing influence and input into the final assortment/buy from a colour and trend perspective.

Team management:

  • Day to day management of Design Admin Assistant & Product Developer.
  • Contribution to the MAAP team working culture.
